Pharma Suite will carry the information about developments in Pharma Industry, with particular reference to Pakistan.   Asrar Qureshi also publishes Pharma Veterans, a site dedicated to recognize the contribution of Pharma Professionals to Industry.

Pharma is a reasonably-sized Industry the world over.

Pakistan has seen rapid evolution of Pharma Industry, particularly in the last thirty years. Three factors contributed significantly to this development. One, our uninhibited population growth which fueled the consumption of drugs. Two, the increase in access to medical facilities because of increased number of doctors and hospitals. Three, the rise of generic Pharma, which offered economical generic versions of expensive research products.

Pharma Industry is a highly regulated industry everywhere. Quality parameters are the primary focus of regulatory agencies. In Pakistan, price has also been a major focus and the successive governments have used it as a political tool through the regulators.

During my travels, I have seen similar evolution in countries like ours. However, our pace has been faster than most others. And we do feel proud about it. Our Pharma exports do not adequately represent our capability. It is because the industry has been trying to develop export largely on its own; without direction and support from the government.

There is a lot happening in Pharma Industry, in Pakistan and the world over. Through PharmaSuite, we shall keep track of note-worthy developments.
